EXHIBITIONS / Eduardo Westerdahl

14 October, 2005 - 15 January, 2006
Patio Herreriano, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Español, Valladolid
Curated:

Editor-in-chief of the famous Gaceta de arte, Eduardo Westerdahl was a driving force and leading promoter of the avant-garde. He disseminated surrealism and abstraction in Spain and, from Tenerife, established links with the Amics de l’Art Nou and Grup d’Arquitectes i Tècnics Catalans per al Progrés de l’Arquitectura Contemporània collectives. Thanks to his constant activity as a cultural agitator, which encompassed photography, architecture, film and theatre, publications and, of course, art, he maintained close relationships with many artists, including Willi Baumeister, Óscar Domínguez and Àngel Ferrant, among others. He also worked as an art critic for a wide variety of catalogues and monographs, in addition to organising all manner of exhibitions and art events, among them the Escuela de Altamira. This exhibition set out to provide a full account of all of these aspects and presented works and documentation taken, in part, from Westerdahl’s personal archive, some of which is preserved in Archivo Lafuente.
